How PurposefulDeck works

PurposefulDeck turns your existing PowerPoint slides or PDF into your client's template or your brand. You get a reasonable first draft to review and finish, without the hours of reformatting. Here is how, in four steps.

Upload your deck

Upload a PowerPoint file (.pptx, .pptm, .ppsx, .potx or older .ppt) or a PDF, up to 120 slides or pages and 50 MB. Up to 5 decks can go into the same template or brand at once. Choose a deck, the client template and your brand kit's logo, brand guide and font files straight from OneDrive, SharePoint or Google Drive, or upload them from your computer; a Google Slides file chosen from Google Drive is saved as PowerPoint on the way.

Choose where it goes

Upload your client's PowerPoint template (.pptx or .potx), or use your brand kit: logo, colours, heading and body fonts, and 16:9, 4:3 or a custom size. Templates stay private to your account.

We place each slide and check for problems

Every slide keeps its own layout and is scaled into the template. Slides go into the template's content area, with each title in the template's title style, so you don't re-align every slide by hand. The old deck's logos, footers, page numbers and decoration are left out, and the review page lists what was left out. We do not rewrite the content or create a new storyline, and speaker notes from PowerPoint files are carried over. Each slide is then checked for possible missing words and numbers and for text that may not fit. Slides that are only pictures are kept as pictures unless you choose to rebuild them (beta). A separate text reader checks each rebuilt slide's words, and the review page points to anything that may be missing. Blurry or low-quality pictures give back less: what can't be read clearly remains part of the picture.

Review and download

See a preview of every slide next to the original. Anything that needs a check, such as text that may not fit, is named so you know exactly where to look. Then download the editable PowerPoint. If you like, ask for a check by a person: only the founder does it, and it uses the same credits as the deck (1 per 30 slides).

Good to know before you start

Up to 120 slides and 50 MB per deck
PowerPoint files and PDFs, from your computer, OneDrive, SharePoint or Google Drive (Google Slides decks are saved as PowerPoint on the way)
Charts and tables in a PowerPoint file are copied as real, editable PowerPoint charts and tables when supported. Grouped objects and PDF content may be rebuilt or kept as pictures. Check numbers, charts and dense slides before sending
Some bar, column, pie, donut and line chart pictures with a number printed on every bar, slice or line point can come back as real PowerPoint charts once the numbers match the picture; other chart pictures stay sharp pictures (charts drawn as shapes in a PDF come across as editable shapes). Up to 24 chart pictures are read per deck
Slides are never split, shortened or rewritten
One credit per deck of up to 30 slides (bigger decks use 1 credit per 30 slides). If the conversion fails, the credits are returned automatically, and each delivered conversion that used credits gets one free re-run within 24 hours
