Audience, decision, and context
Why does this gate exist?
Most decks fail because the presenter never locked down who is in the room, what they need to decide, and what they already believe. PurposefulDeck requires you to confirm these three things before anything else happens.
How does it work?
Paste a rough brief or fill three structured fields: audience description, the decision to be made, and the outcome you need. Optional fields — walk-in belief state, walk-out belief state, known objections — deepen the framing but are collapsed by default.

Core message
Why does this gate exist?
A deck without a core message is a collection of slides, not an argument. The core message forces you to articulate the point of view and the stakes in a single sentence before any slide title is written.
How does it work?
PurposefulDeck generates a draft core message from your brief. You edit it until it is yours, then approve it. The approved core message is locked — it cannot be overridden by the model or changed without your explicit action.

Storyline titles
Why does this gate exist?
Slide titles are usually topic labels — 'Market overview', 'Key findings', 'Recommendations'. Topic labels do not make an argument. PurposefulDeck requires every title to be a complete, assertive claim statement.
How does it work?
The system generates conclusion-first slide titles keyed to your core message. Generic titles — 'Overview', 'Introduction', 'Key Takeaways', 'Agenda' — are rejected by an anti-pattern filter and never offered. You reorder, edit, or replace titles. Slide bodies are only written after you approve the complete spine.

Evidence and citation verification
Why does this gate exist?
Quantitative claims in consulting decks are frequently unsourced or misquoted. A citation is not proof. PurposefulDeck makes this visible and enforces a hard export rule: unsourced numbers do not leave as stated facts.
How does it work?
Upload PDFs. Each chunk — paragraph, table row, caption — receives a deterministic ID minted once at ingestion. That ID never changes. Claims produced during generation map to those chunk IDs. Each claim is rated by one of four states. For M&A due diligence decks, an additional anonymization pass scrubs confidential entity names, email addresses, and domains before any chunk reaches the AI model — preserving all financial figures exactly.

The source directly supports the claim. Citation renders in the exported slide.
- Partially supported
The source partially supports the claim. Citation renders with a speaker-note warning flagging the gap.
- Unsupported
No matching source found. The citation is stripped from the export. Quantitative claims are blocked entirely.
- Contradicted
The source contradicts the claim. The export is hard-blocked until the claim is corrected or removed.

Native PowerPoint export
Why does this gate exist?
Screenshot-based exports look like PowerPoint but cannot be edited. Clients need to change a number after the meeting. PurposefulDeck exports native shapes, text, and charts that open and stay editable in Microsoft PowerPoint.
How does it work?
Choose from six consulting layouts per slide. Preview each slide in-browser before committing. When you export, the file is a .pptx with native PowerPoint shapes, text boxes, and embedded chart objects — not images. QA gates prevent export if contradicted claims or geometry overflow are present.

What does not happen
- Web research — PurposefulDeck only works with sources you upload.
- Automatic claim approval — every claim rating is computed, not assumed.
- Model training on your content — your uploads, edits, and exports are never used to train models.
- Screenshots in exports — every export is native PowerPoint shapes, text, and charts.
- Skipping gates — you cannot generate slides without an approved storyline above them.
How generation works
PurposefulDeck uses a deterministic generator by default — it runs without any external AI call and produces consistent, schema-validated output. When Amazon Bedrock is configured (Claude 3.5 Haiku or Nova Micro), it is used as the generation provider behind the same schema contract. Zod validation enforces the output structure regardless of which generator runs. Per-project token and cost caps apply to every Bedrock call.
