How do you turn a PDF deck into an editable PowerPoint?

Upload the PDF and choose a client template or your brand. PurposefulDeck turns the typed text on each page into editable text boxes in the template, keeps the page order, and tells you before you start which pages are pictures. You review every page before and after, then finish it in PowerPoint.

What you get

  • Editable text boxes for text typed in the PDF, placed into the template's styles
  • Charts drawn as shapes in the PDF come across as editable shapes
  • Bar, column, pie, donut and line chart pictures rebuilt as editable charts when every printed number matches the chart
  • For pages whose words are drawn as shapes, an editable title; the rest stays a sharp picture
  • A count of slides and picture pages before you convert, and a review of every page after

What to know first

  • A page that is one flattened picture (a scan or screenshot) stays a picture, unless you choose to rebuild picture pages with the beta, which reads the layout with AI and checks the words with a second reader.
  • The original PowerPoint gives a better result when you have it; a PDF saved with PowerPoint's "Save as PDF" is the next best.
  • Up to 120 pages and 50 MB per PDF. Password-protected PDFs are refused.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Upload the PDF

You see how many pages it has and how many are pictures, so you know what can become editable before any credit is used.

  2. Step 2

    Choose where it goes

A client's PPTX or POTX template, or a template made from your logo, colours and fonts.

  3. Step 3

    Review and download

Compare every page with its original, then download the PowerPoint and the review notes PDF.

Questions

Is every page editable afterwards?

No. Text typed in the PDF becomes editable. Pages that are one picture remain pictures unless you rebuild them with the beta, and some charts and drawings may remain pictures. The review page names each one.

Can it rebuild scanned or picture pages?

When most pages are pictures you can choose to rebuild them (beta) or keep them. Rebuilding uses AI to read the layout and a separate text reader to check the words; some details may be missed, so review every rebuilt page.

Are the numbers in my charts read correctly?

A chart picture becomes an editable chart only when the numbers printed on it match the bars, slices or points measured in the picture. Others remain pictures. Check every rebuilt chart against the original.

Is my PDF used to train AI?

We don't use it to train AI. Google's Gemini, through Google Cloud Vertex AI in Singapore, reads the numbers in chart pictures and, if you choose to rebuild picture pages, their layout. Google Cloud's terms say Google won't use it to train its models without our permission; Google may keep a request only if its automated safety checks flag it as possible abuse, and then for up to 90 days, in the same region, to check it.
